How can I check if my iOS device is eSIM compatible?
To check if your iOS device is eSIM compatible, dial *#06# and click Call.
Your device's eSIM unique identification number (EID) will automatically appear if your device has this capability.
Here’s another way to do this:
Go to Settings> General> About.
Scroll down to view the “Carrier Lock” section.
Make sure you have “NO SIM restrictions” set, which means that your device is unlocked.
Then scroll down to view the “Available SIM” section. It should be iOS 15 or newer).
If you have an older iOS version, check your “DIGITAL SIM” section instead.
In any of these 2 sections, please find your IMEI category to ensure your device is eSIM compatible.
For devices with more than one SIM, you may need to temporarily disable/remove one of the SIM cards before downloading your eSIM.
Still not sure if your iOS device is eSIM-capable and unlocked? Skip the guessing game and contact us.
How can I check if my Android device is eSIM compatible?
If the manufacturer mentions that the Android device is eSIM compatible, then this is the safest way to ensure that you can operate an eSIM plan. To get a quick answer, find our list of compatible devices.
A much easier way is to simply download the Simly app. There, you’ll be informed if your Android device is eSIM compatible.
Sometimes, your Android mobile model can be listed as eSIM capable and still not allow you to add an eSIM plan.
Android is an open-source operating system, so any mobile device manufacturer or carrier can customize it. That’s why some models released in some regions or countries may not have eSIM capabilities. Sometimes, the main carrier where you bought the device may not have this feature enabled.
Here are a few steps to check if your device has eSIM capabilities.
(The best way to confirm your mobile device is eSIM-capable, is through your device manufacturer, vendor, or your main carrier. Manual steps may or may not be applicable to your device.)
Samsung devices
Go to Settings> Connections> SIM card manager> Add Mobile plan
If the “Add Mobile Plan” is available, it should mean that your device supports eSIMs.
Contact Samsung support to confirm if the above steps are possible for your device.
Pixel devices
Go to Settings > Network & Internet
Tap the ‘+’ sign across SIMs.
If the “Connect to Mobile Network” page has a “Download a SIM instead?” option, your device is eSIM capable.
Remember to contact Google Pixel support or your vendor or main carrier to confirm if the above steps are possible for your device.
Other Android devices
Dial *#06# and press the call.
If your device is eSIM capable, you should be able to view your device’s eSIM unique identification number (EID).
Remember to check with your device manufacturer, vendor, or primary carrier to confirm eSIM capability if the above steps are not helpful for you.

I'm getting the "This code is no longer valid" message.
You might experience this in one of the following cases:
- To determine if an eSIM was previously added, you need to check if it has an ICCID Number with an extra digit (20-digit number). The eSIM should be turned on to check that feature.
- To find the ICCID, go to Settings > General > About (scroll down)
Note that an eSIM can’t be installed twice. It is impossible to reinstall an eSIM that has been removed.
If that doesn’t turn out to be your problem - this means you are installing the eSIM for the first time - the error message might be caused by a slow connection, a VPN enabled, or having too many eSIMs installed on your device.
- To ensure you effectively install your eSIM:
- Make sure you have a strong and stable internet connection
- Deactivate any VPN services.
- Remove any eSIMs you are not planning to use in the future
- Ensure that the software is up to date.
I'm getting the "Cellular Plans From This Carrier Cannot be Added" message.
This error message may appear if you install your eSIM on a carrier-locked device.
To determine if your device is locked:
- Go to Settings
- Go to General
- Tap About
Normally, you will see No SIM restrictions under Carrier Lock. Please contact your carrier to unlock your device if that message does not appear.
Once your device is unlocked, please contact our Customer Care Team for help.
I'm getting the "Unable to Complete Cellular Plan Change" message.
The “Unable to Complete Cellular Plan Change” message is associated with an error during installation, which could have resulted from one of the following:
- Cellular data is turned off on your device.
- The device has far too many eSIMs installed. Up to 20 eSIMs can be installed on eSIM-compatible devices, but the maximum number of eSIMs that can be active simultaneously varies based on the device model.
In this case, you have to remove the eSIMs you aren’t using anymore or the ones you are sure you won’t need in the future.
3. Adding an eSIM that was previously added.
To check if an eSIM was previously installed, you need to find the ICCID Number, which is, in this case, a 20-digit number (starting with 89 and ending with a random additional digit).
Go to Settings > General > About (and scroll down)
If you find out the ICCID has been installed, connecting may require a few minor tweaks. We can always help and remind you of the details needed to set up and install your eSIM.
Poor Connection while finishing the eSIM installation. Ensure you’re connected to a strong and stable network and avoid public Wi-Fi.
I'm not able to connect my eSIM on Android.
Please verify the necessary settings if you are experiencing problems connecting your eSIM on an Android device.
Go to My eSIMs > Details > Install eSIM/Access Data to find them.
Data Roaming should be enabled. On your device:
- Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks
- Choose your eSIM
- Check that Data roaming is turned on
- Go to Preferred SIM Card, and assign Mobile Data to your eSIM
- Go to Connections > Mobile Networks and turn Data Roaming “ON”
The access point name (APN settings) needs to be updated.
- Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks
- Select Access Point Name
- Select "+" or "ADD"
- Under APN, enter the new APN settings specified in the eSIM installation details
- Hit Save
- Keep the remaining fields empty.
Please make sure your device is connected to a reliable internet connection as you’re doing this.
Can I reinstall an eSIM?
In fact, no! Since most eSIMs cannot be reinstalled, removing your eSIM may result in its permanent loss.
To save data, we strongly advise temporarily turning off the eSIM when not in use. You can also simply switch off Cellular Data.
Note that the validity of the eSIM will only start running once it connects to a compatible network. Do not be afraid to turn it on before you fly!
How do I install and set up an eSIM on my Android device?
First of all, you must check the following items to guarantee that you can successfully install and set up your eSIM:
Your device needs to be eSIM compatible and network unlocked.
You have a stable connection, preferably WiFi. (You need to download the eSIM properly to your device, and a stable internet connection is a must.)

- Open Settings
- Go to Cellular or Mobile
- Select your eSIM
- Tap on Remove Cellular Plan

How can I remove an eSIM from my Android device?
You can safely remove eSIMs from your device when:
There is no longer an active data package for the eSIM
When you buy an eSIM from Simly, it always comes with a data pack ready to be activated. You can see this from your account (on the Simly App or website) if there is still an active data package for your eSIM (not yet expired). If this is the case, please do not delete the eSIM from the device.
You no longer have a use for it
Some eSIMs from Simly can only be used once and can’t be topped up. You can remove these eSIMs after using them.
If you have an eSIM that you no longer plan to use, you can safely remove it as well.
Your new eSIM is for the same country/region
When you buy an eSIM from the store, you will receive a new eSIM each time. The new eSIM will always need to be installed. It’s always best to start to install on a clean slate to avoid confusion on which eSIM is in the device.
To remove your eSIMs from the device, navigate to your device’s Mobile/Cellular Settings, tap on the eSIM you want to delete, and select Remove Mobile Data Plan. Depending on the device, it can also be Remove eSIM, Delete Mobile Plan, or something similar.
For the step-by-step instructions on removing eSIMs from iOS devices, please refer to "How can I remove an eSIM from my iOS operating devices?"
Does my eSIM mobile data grant me access to all apps and websites?
You can use a Simly eSIM to access many apps and websites, assuming the app or website has no restrictions. And when we speak of restrictions, the reason behind that might be Proxy Settings or Security protocols.
eSIM data necessarily involves a routing method that utilizes a “roaming platform.” As a result, they may be inaccessible due to the app or website security settings.
When will the data plan on my eSIM expire?
To determine the expiration date of your data package, the first thing to look for is the “Validity” of your eSIM. Simly’s app shows the validity of each plan you explore. Thus it is plain to see before you make the purchase.
If the validity is 7 days, your eSIM will expire after 7 days. Simple, right?
But don’t take that for granted if you aren’t sure of your data consumption. In other words, if you use more data than expected, you will end up out of gigabytes before your package expires. In this case, you will need to top up using our Simly App.
Use My Simly App
You can easily figure that out in two ways: your Simly account and device settings.
On Simly’s App:
Tap the wallet button
Select the eSIM for which you wish to check data usage.
If it is accessible, the data bar will tell how much data you have left. Alternatively, follow the instructions under "DATA USAGE."
iOS Operating Devices:
Settings > Cellular/Mobile Data > Current Period Roaming
